| Washington, D.C.- Congressman Dale E. Kildee (D-MI) participated in the Get Caught Reading program sponsored by the Association of American Publishers and Magazine Publishers of America.
“Aside from reading to achieve academic excellence, we must encourage our youth to read for pleasure and entertainment,” said Kildee. “By developing a passion for reading, children will be able to explore their own creativity and imagination.”
The Get Caught Reading program is a nation-wide campaign designed to put the fun back in reading. The program places renewed emphasis on reading by celebrating the gift of literacy. This nation-wide initiative has been very successful in large part to the participation of celebrities and public figures whose photos have appeared in magazines across the country. Congressman Kildee now joins Sammy Sosa, Whoopie Goldberg, Rosie O’Donnell, Derek Jeter, Robin Williams and Donald Duck in promoting the Get Caught Reading program.
“The Get Caught Reading program emphasizes the importance of reading and helps motivate children to read for pleasure,” said Congressman Kildee. “I am honored to participate in this program because it provides children with a fresh and exciting perspective on reading.” |
