Washington, D.C. - Congressman Dale E. Kildee (D-MI) announced today that Flint’s Bishop International Airport would receive a grant of $950,000 from the Federal Aviation Administration for security enhancements. The FAA provided the grant to enhance the safety, security, and operational efficiency of Bishop Airport.
“Bishop Airport’s growth continues to bring valuable economic benefits to Genesee County and surrounding communities,” said Kildee. “This grant will allow Bishop Airport to improve the security of the entire facility in order to accommodate the increase in passenger traffic and the expansion of the airport facility.”
According to Airport Director Jim Rice, “These enhancements are part of an ongoing program to maintain the most secure airport facilities possible. We are fortunate to have good people working at all levels of government to help us acquire the latest security technologies available, and truly appreciate their commitment to our airport.”
This grant will provide funding to improve security features designed to ensure that the entire airport is safe and secure. Bishop Airport will primarily use this grant to upgrade access control equipment, including cameras and digital equipment. |
