Washington, D.C. - Congressman Dale E. Kildee (D-MI) announced today that $452,760 he secured in an appropriations bill last year would arrive soon to help replace the Corunna Road bridge at I-75. The Federal Highway Administration is expected to release the funds to the Michigan Department of Transportation next week.
“Regional commerce is dependent on safe and reliable ground transportation. While road construction can temporarily inconvenience commuters and small businesses, those repairs are vital to enhance public safety, keep construction crews working and encourage investment in the local community,” said Kildee. “Replacement of the Corunna Road bridge will ensure that future congestion is kept to a minimum and will provide greater access to local business.”
Located west of Flint, the replacement of the Corunna Road bridge over I-75 would increase the width for pedestrian traffic and make aesthetic improvements.
Funding for the replacement of the Corunna Road bridge was appropriated by Congress in the Fiscal Year 2008 Omnibus Appropriations Act.
