Kildee Secures $780,000 for Saginaw, Tuscola and Bay Counties
 
 
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Dale E. Kildee (D-MI) today announced that he has secured $780,000 in funding for projects in Saginaw, Tuscola and Bay Counties.  The funding was secured in H.R. 2847, the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, which passed the House of Representatives last night. U.S. Senate action on the measure is pending.

“I am very pleased that Congress has approved my requests for these important projects that will move our communities forward, and improve the quality of life for our citizens. From helping to reduce substance abuse and crime, to providing opportunities to disadvantaged children, these programs benefit people throughout our area. I am proud to support these projects and I am thankful for the services they provide to our community,” said Congressman Kildee.

Listed below are the projects in Saginaw, Bay and Tuscola counties that received funding at the request of Congressman Kildee:

$100,000 for the Generations, Human Development Commission, Tuscola County:
The Human Development Commission Generations program is a before/after school and summer program targeted to economically disadvantaged children or those at-risk of failure in school in grades K-5.  Generations brings together kids, seniors and teens for activities including drug and crime prevention and awareness, educational instruction, community service, 21st century technology and school success.

$200,000 for the Bay County Neighborhood Resource Center and Bay Regional Medical Center:
Funds will be used to provide substance abuse prevention services to youth and their families through education, early intervention and programming for first time juvenile substance abuse offenders.

$200,000 for the City of Saginaw Police Department:
Funds will go to the Saginaw Police Department’s Neighborhood Passive Observation Digital Surveillance Camera System to help reduce incidences of crime.

$280,000 for the Saginaw County Sheriff’s Office, Facilitating Justice Information Sharing:
The Saginaw County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the State of Michigan’s Region III Homeland Security Subdivision is seeking to consolidate law enforcement and correctional records, data, information and intelligence among Region III’s Sheriff’s agencies and corresponding correctional facilities. This funding will help facilitate this goal and reduce crime.
