Washington, D.C. – Representative Dale E. Kildee announced that $2 million has been secured for the Agent Fate Program in the Defense Appropriations Bill for Fiscal Year 2005. Kettering University in Flint will share the funding and be a key partner in the Agent Fate Program. The funding was added to the House bill at the request of Congressman Kildee. The House-passed Defense Appropriations Bill now awaits action by the Senate and subsequent signing into law by the President.
“I am very pleased that we were able to secure this funding and that Kettering University will play an important role in the Agent Fate Program” said Rep. Kildee. “The research conducted right here at Kettering University will make our military men and women safer in the field and our citizens safer here at home.”
The Agent Fate Program uses indoor and outdoor experiments and computer modeling to help better protect our troops against chemical warfare agents in field. Specifically, the program conducts chemical agent testing to develop computer models that accurately predict how long the chemicals will remain harmful after they are deployed. Kettering University will provide the computer and mathematical modeling analyses for the Agent Fate Program.
The $2 million was included in the Chemical and Biological Defense Program budget for the Department of Defense. |
