Kildee Secures $500,000 to Replace Bridge at I-75

Washington, D.C.  - Congressman Dale E. Kildee (D-MI) announced today that the Michigan Department of Transportation would receive $500,000 in federal aid to help replace the Corunna Road bridge at Interstate 75 (I-75).  The funds were appropriated by the House in the Fiscal Year 2008 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations bill at the request of Congressman Kildee.

“I am pleased that the federal government has voted to provide funding to maintain infrastructure in mid-Michigan,” said Kildee.  “This bridge renovation will be beneficial to the economy and regional commerce, assuring that roads stay clear and that congestion is kept to a minimum.  The improvements will also help to beautify the local community and encourage investment.”

Located west of Flint, the replacement of the Corunna Road bridge over I-75 would increase the width for pedestrian traffic and make aesthetic improvements.  This would be the first time that the project would receive federal funding.

Funding for the replacement of the Corunna Road bridge must be approved by the Senate and the President to be appropriated.
