Washington, D.C.- Congressman Dale E. Kildee (D-MI) announced today that the Flint, Saginaw and Bay City housing commissions would receive a total of $3.73 million from the Capital Fund Program for modernization, development and management improvements. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development awarded the FY 2003 Capital Fund Program formula grants to help rehabilitate distressed communities and to improve the standard of living.
“By providing low-income families with better access to affordable public housing we will be able to help build a safer community and create more job opportunities,” said Kildee. “This funding will improve the standard of living for low-income families and the quality of public services available to all low-income residents living in Flint, Saginaw and Bay City.”

- Flint Housing Commission $ 1,812,033.00
- Saginaw Housing Commission $1,091,003.00
- Bay City Housing Commission $826,948.00
The Capital Fund Program grants will be used to improve the quality and efficiency of public housing agencies in Flint, Saginaw and Bay City. The federal funding may also to cover the cost of providing replacement housing. Last month, HUD awarded Genesee County and Bay City nearly $9 million in federal assistance to stimulate local economies, promote affordable housing and to help the homeless. |
