| Washington, D.C.- Congressman Dale E. Kildee (D-MI) announced today that Oakland Primary Health Services, Inc. has been awarded an $844,578 grant to provide primary health care services to the uninsured and underserved population in Oakland County. The Health Resources and Service Administration’s Bureau of Primary Health Care, a division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, awarded this grant to Oakland Primary Health Services in order to provide patients with better access to health care services.
“It is imperative that we work together to improve and expand access to health care for all Americans,” said Kildee. “This grant will effectively help save lives and protect public health by providing quality medical care to those residents in Oakland County that do not have sufficient health insurance.”
Community health centers serve all people regardless of their ability to pay and target their services in areas where people face barriers to accessing high quality, competent care. The primary objective of these community health centers is to provide quality health care services to those people without health insurance or with inadequate coverage. Through extensive partnerships with local providers, hospitals, and managed care organizations, health centers build local systems of care that increase residents’ access to health services. The new center in Oakland County anticipates serving approximately 10,000 medically indigent individuals at full capacity at the new site. |
