Washington, D.C. - Congressman Dale E. Kildee (D-MI) announced today that the Metro Housing Partnership of Flint would receive a technical assistance grant in the amount of $100,000 to enhance their capacity to service the Flint metro area with homeowner counseling and loans.
“Metro Housing provides an invaluable service in Flint to educate homeowners and offer them assistance that can help keep people in their homes or can help a new homeowner find the resources to move into their first home,” said Kildee.
Established in 1992, the Metro Housing Partnership is an emerging Community Development Financial Institution that provides the Flint metro area assistance with homeownership counseling, down payment and closing costs loans, gap financing loans, senior home retention loans and individual development accounts. Metro Housing will use federal funds to develop new loan products and lending policies and to purchase new computers and equipment.
The United States Treasury‘s Community Development Financial Institution grant program provides funding to enhance the capacity of institutions, like the Metro Housing Partnership, to provide credit, capital and financial services to underserved populations.
