Washington, D.C. - Congressman Dale E. Kildee (D-MI) announced today that the City and County of Saginaw would receive $61,523 in federal aid to help enable law enforcement to share information quickly and seamlessly with other regional law enforcement agencies.
In a June 25, 2008 letter to the Department of Justice, Kildee noted that the system would enhance the effectiveness of regional law enforcement and “would establish data sharing with state and federal intelligence and investigative ‘Fusion Centers.’”
The funding will support annual recurring costs associated with the maintenance of the Area Records Management Systems (ARMS). The City and County of Saginaw will each receive $30,762 to assist with maintenance costs of the system. The ARMS is the consolidated enforcement and correctional records and data management system used by all law enforcement and public safety agencies in Saginaw County.
“It is crucial that our police officers collaborate in using the best technology to guarantee the public’s safety,” said Kildee. “This funding will help to ensure that the excellent police forces that protect our families and our neighbors have the tools they need to remain on the cutting edge of law enforcement.”
