| Washington, D.C.- Congressman Dale E. Kildee (D-MI) received the highest rating (100%) from the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare for his outstanding commitment to the preservation and protection of Social Security and Medicare. The National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare recently compiled a legislative scorecard for the 107th Congress, which evaluates the voting records of every member of Congress.
“It is a tremendous honor to receive the highest rating from the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare,” said Kildee. “My voting record on Social Security and Medicare reflects my strong commitment to protecting those vital programs that help provide all Americans with a healthy and financially secure retirement. I will continue to thwart efforts to privatize Social Security and Medicare because it would be devastating to the retirement security of every American.”
As a senior member of the Education and Workforce Committee, Congressman Kildee has continually demonstrated his commitment to protecting those programs that provide retirees with financial security and affordable health care. Kildee has fought the efforts of the Bush Administration to privatize Social Security and Medicare. In light of recent corporate scandals and volatile stock prices, Kildee recently urged the Administration to abandon its recommendation to privatize Social Security. Kildee received a 100% approval rating from the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare because he voted against privatization and voted for legislation to ensure the solvency of Social Security and to expand Medicare coverage to prescription drugs.
The National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare was founded in 1982 to serve as an advocate for the landmark federal programs of Social Security and Medicare and for all Americans who seek a healthy, productive and secure retirement.
