Washington, D.C. –Shortly after Congressman Dale E. Kildee (D-MI) introduced Thomas (T.J.) Rancour at the Boys & Girls Clubs breakfast in Washington, D.C., Rancour won the Boys & Girls Club National Youth of the Year Award. Prior to winning the national title, T.J. Rancour, a 17 year-old from Pinconning High School, became the first teenager from Bay County to win both the Michigan and the Midwest Boys and Girls Clubs Youth of the Year Award.
“I am absolutely delighted that T.J. won the Boys & Girls Club National Youth of the Year Award,” said Kildee. “T.J was able to overcome many personal obstacles in his life because of his determination and perseverance. T.J. has a bright future ahead of him because he has a good heart and a good head.”
As the national champion, Rancour will be the national spokesman for Boys & Girls Club and he will receive an additional $10,000 in scholarship money for college. Prior to winning the national title, Rancour had already won $9,000 in scholarships. Rancour won the national title after undergoing a number of grueling personal interviews by several judges and delivering an excellent speech about how the Boys and Girls Club changed his life. Rancour competed against four other Boys and Girls Club regional winners for the national title. |
