Washington, D.C.- Congressman Dale E. Kildee (D-MI) announced today that the Tuscola Intermediate School District would receive a $479,998 grant over the next two years under the Emergency Response Plans for School Safety Initiative Program. The U.S. Department of Education awarded the grant to the TISD to improve school safety by developing better emergency response and crisis management plans.
“This grant provides the Tuscola Intermediate School District with the funds necessary to expand its efforts to ensure the safety and security of our schools,” said Kildee. “We must continue to provide the TISD with the necessary resources and services so that our children can continue to learn and grow in a safe environment.”
The Emergency Response and Crisis Management Program provides local educational agencies with funds to improve and strengthen emergency response and crisis management plans. These funds are used to train school personnel, students and parents in emergency response procedures and to coordinate activities with local government, law enforcement, public safety, and mental health agencies. The Tuscola Intermediate School District will now be able to ensure the safety of their students by working with staff, students, parents and community partners to mitigate and prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from crises. |
