WASHINGTON - Congressman Dale E. Kildee (D-MI) announced today that the Community Resolution Center and My Brothers Keeper of Genesee County would receive $50,000 and $44,693, respectively, to assist the homeless and at-risk youth in the area. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services awarded these grants as part of its Compassion Capital Fund (CCF) to help grass roots community organizations enhance their ability to provide a wide range of social services to those in need.
“This funding will provide these two organizations with important resources to help those most in need,” said Kildee. “Community-based groups know the problems that affect their neighborhoods and they know the best ways to solve them. Now they will have more resources with which to improve the lives of at-risk children and the homeless in Genesee County.”
The Community Resolution Center and My Brothers Keeper of Genesee County were two of 310 community organizations to receive grants under the CCF Targeted Capacity-building Program. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced nationwide CCF awards totaling $49 million on Thursday, September 29.
The Targeted Capacity-Building Program funds community organizations directly with one time awards for one year to build their capacity to deliver services to at-risk youth, the homeless, or those living in rural communities. Since the program began in 2002, $148 million has been given to more than 3,000 organizations. |
