Washington, D.C.- Congressman Dale E. Kildee (D-MI) will convene the Federal Procurement Conference at Mott Community College Regional Technology Center on Friday, November 14, 2003 at 8:00am-3:00pm. Kildee joined the Procurement Technical Assistance Centers of Michigan, Defense Logistics Agency and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation in sponsoring the conference titled, “Diversify: Contracting with the Federal Government.”
“This conference will provide marketing and technical assistance to local businesses in order to prepare them for government contracts,” said Kildee. “Our ability to secure government contracts will have a significant impact on our local economy and community by providing new job and business opportunities for area residents.”
The “Diversify: Contracting with the Federal Government” conference will feature a series of guest lectures and courses to assist business firms in obtaining and performing under government contracts. Congressman Kildee will be on hand to officially open the conference at 9 am in the morning. The conference was developed to provide basic and advance procurement and marketing techniques to wide variety of local businesses. Each course and panel will help prepare local businesses to secure and maintain government contracts. The conference will also enable business owners to interact directly with experienced government contractors.
Congressman Kildee would like to encourage local businesses to attend the conference to develop better procurement techniques. Businesses will ultimately be better prepared to attract, secure and maintain government contracts by participating in this conference. Every business will benefit greatly from attending the conference whether they are new or old to the contracting business. The conference cost is $30 per person, which includes breakfast, lunch and reading materials.
