WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) will hold a meeting in Jackson this Friday, April 4, at 9:30 a.m. to recap the ice storm disaster that struck the region on February 10-14. City of Jackson and county officials will meet with Emerson at the Jackson City Hall.
“We’re still dealing with floods in the Eighth Congressional District, but we should not forget about the ice storms that hit Jackson especially hard. We need to be sure we are taking advantage of every opportunity afforded the City of Jackson and Cape Girardeau County by the federal disaster declaration,” said Emerson. “Believe it or not, cleanup and other issues caused by the ice storms still remain, and the response was a real burden on the city and county budgets for first responders. Every time we have the opportunity to call on federal support for our local resources, we have to take full advantage. That’s why those programs exist.”
The meeting will be open to the press, and members of the media may ask questions before or after the event.
