Myrick: “What’s next? Retroactive taxation on another group of American citizens?”

| (Washington, D.C.) – US Representative Sue Myrick (NC-09) has released the following statement in response to the AIG bonuses and today’s bill regarding these bonuses:
“I am outraged at these AIG bonuses – but the government shouldn’t have allowed them to give the bonuses in the first place, and this bill violates the Constitution in order to get the money back.
There is a constitutional prohibition against the government using the tax code to punish a select group of people (Article 1 Section 9 Clause 3 of the US Constitution). What’s next? Retroactive taxation on another group of American citizens? Teachers? Police officers? Postal workers? Wake up America!”
