MYRICK ANNOUNCES CONGRESSIONAL ART
COMPETITION WINNERS

(Washington, D.C.) – On Sunday, Representative Sue Myrick (NC-9) hosted the Annual 9th District Congressional Art Competition Reception at Wingate University.  The reception honored the 52 high school students who entered the contest.

At the reception, Rep. Myrick announced that Christine Smith, from Charlotte Christian School, was awarded 1st Place for her charcoal artwork titled “Self-Portrait.”  Chelsea White, from Forestview High School, was awarded  2nd Place for her colored pencil artwork entitled “In America.”  Mallory Eggleston, from Butler High School, was awarded 3rd Place for her Silver Geltin Print titled “Struggle.”

“The artwork submitted this year was amazing, and the judges had a very hard time deciding the winners.  The students who entered this contest are all very talented, and I’m expecting to see their artwork in museums one day,” said Myrick.

Christine Smith will join Rep. Myrick at a reception this July in Washington, DC to see her artwork displayed in the US Capitol along with other winners across the United States.  Judges for this competition were composed of the full-time art faculty of Wingate University.
