MYRICK ANNOUNCES FIREFIGHTER GRANT FOR ALEXIS VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT
 
(Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Rep. Sue Myrick (NC-9) today announced Alexis Volunteer Fire Department, located in Alexis, NC, has been awarded a $43,260 grant from the Department of Homeland Security under the Assistance for Firefighters Grant Program.  The funding will be used for Fire Operations and Firefighter Safety Programs, which include: training, wellness and fitness, firefighting equipment, personal protective equipment, and modifications to fire stations and facilities.
 
  The Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFGP) awards one-year grants directly to fire departments to support the nation's firefighters and the services they deliver.  The Department of Homeland Security’s Office for Domestic Preparedness (ODP) administers the program, in cooperation with the U.S. Fire Administration.
