MYRICK ANNOUNCES CONGRESSIONAL ART
COMPETITION WINNERS

 

(Washington, D.C.) – On Sunday, Representative Sue Myrick (NC-9) hosted the Annual 9th District Congressional Art Competition Reception at Matthews Community Center.  The reception honored the 58 high school students who entered the annual Congressional Art Competition. 

 At the reception, Rep. Myrick announced that Jenna Bailey from Forestview High School in Gastonia, was awarded 1st Place for her collage titled “Behind the Scenes.”  Neilson Gamble, from Charlotte Latin, was awarded 2nd Place for his photograph titled “Still Life on a Piano.”  Jen Yen, from Butler High School, was awarded 3rd Place for her artwork titled “Thumb Print Self Portrait.”  

 Jenna Bailey will join Rep. Myrick at a reception this July in Washington, DC to see her artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol along with other winners across the United States.  Judges for this competition were composed of members of the Artists of Matthews.
