(Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Representative Sue Myrick (NC-9) today announced that $1 million will go to support the development of the Garden Parkway in Gaston County. The funding, which Myrick requested, was included in HR 4818, the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2005.
“One of my top priorities for Gaston County is the Garden Parkway, and this funding moves us closer to it becoming a reality,” said Myrick. “Not only will the Parkway provide needed relief for traffic congestion, but it will be an economic development tool that encourages business to come to Gaston County and locate around the Parkway.” Currently, environmental and planning studies on the Parkway are underway with completion anticipated in 2009. Myrick has been a constant supporter of theGarden Parkway and has helped the project receive over $4 million since 2000.
