HOLT STATEMENT ON PRINCETON UNIVERSITY WINNING CONTRACT FOR PRINCETON PLASMA PHYSICS LAB

(Washington, D.C.) – U.S. Rep. Rush Holt (NJ-12), former Assistant Director of the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) from 1989 to 1998 today issued the following statement on the announcement of the U.S. Department of Energy awarded a five-year, $390 million management contract for the Princeton Plasma Physics Lab to Princeton University. At the same time, the Department of Energy confirmed Stewart Prager as Director of PPPL.
“By awarding this contract, the Department of Energy is saying that the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory is the best in the field and that the nation will look to Princeton to reassert American leadership in fusion research,” Holt said. “Stewart Prager is an ideal leader for PPPL now.”
