HOLT ADDRESSES CHRISTMAS DAY INCIDENT DURING BRIEFING WITH DNI, NCTC DIRECTOR

Washington, DC – U.S. Representative Rush Holt (NJ-12), a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and Chair of the Select Intelligence Oversight Panel, today issued the following statement following a closed door briefing on the Flight 253 incident with Dennis Blair, Director of National Intelligence and Michael E. Leiter, Director of the National Counterterrorism Center.
“Today, the House Intelligence Committee heard from the Director of National Intelligence and the head of the National Counterterrorism Center in great detail regarding the Christmas Day Flight 253 incident. I asked a number of questions about the genesis of this incident, as well as the measures taken by the intelligence community to prevent future lapses in our defenses. Based on what I heard today, I am certain that additional oversight actions will be necessary and I will play an active role in crafting any needed legislative or budgetary remedies required to stop similar attempts.”
