Queens, NY - Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-Queens & Brooklyn) announced today that the Greater Ridgewood Restoration Corporation will receive a $10,000 grant to fund graffiti removal. The grant, which was awarded by the New York State Criminal Justice Services Division and secured by Rep. Weiner, will be used to clean up defaced buildings and public ways.
Ridgewood residents are proud of their neighborhood, and they take good care of it too. But like other city nuisances, graffiti usually happens when nobody’s around to see it, so it can happen in even the most attentive communities.
So when Ridgewood residents decided to take action, Rep. Weiner was ready to help. Now, thanks to the grant funds, Ridgewood will be able to employ a whole range of tools to get rid of that ugly graffiti.
"Graffiti’s like a weed--when you see it you have to pull it out by the roots, or else its never going to leave," said Rep. Weiner. "I’m happy to help Ridgewood take care of this city scourge."
Rep. Weiner will present the grant check to the Greater Ridgewood Restoration Corporation at tonight’s meeting of the Ridgewood Property Owners and Civic Association, which will take place at JHS 93, 66-56 Forest Ave./Madison Street, in Ridgewood.
