WASHINGTON - U.S. Representative Edolphus “Ed” Towns (NY-10) today voted for a resolution to condemn Wednesday’s violent attack on the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC. The measure, H. Res. 529, also honors the bravery and dedication of United States Holocaust Memorial Museum employees and security personnel. Stephen Tyrone Johns, who was serving his sixth year as a security guard at the Holocaust Museum, was fatally wounded as a result of the attack.
Statement from Representative Towns:
“The shooting yesterday at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum is a stark reminder that our nation is still fighting to overcome the forces of racism and bigotry. We must not turn a blind eye to this incident, instead, we must expose this horrific event and educate our friends and neighbors about the terrible places hatred can lead us. During this difficult time, my thoughts and prayers are with the family of Stephen Tyrone Johns whose untimely death in the line of duty will not be forgotten.”
