Washington, DC - July 12, 2005--- Congressman Ed Towns (D-NY) today announced that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development awarded the Brooklyn Public Library a grant in the amount of $471,696. The Fiscal Year 2005 Special Project Grant will be used for restoration of the library's central plaza.
"The Brooklyn Public Library is a landmark institution that serves the entire Brooklyn community," stated Congressman Towns. "The plaza is more than an entrance to the library, it is also a gathering space for visitors, tour groups and the community. The Special Project Grant should enable the library to restore its central plaza in a manner that showcases the grandeur of the institution."
