TOWNS, U.S. DEPT. OF TRANSPORTATION TO HOST CONTRACTING FORUM FOR MINORITY OWNED BUSINESSES IN BROOKLYN
Forum will educate businesses on Recovery Act-funded contracting opportunities
 

WASHINGTON - U.S. Representative Edolphus “Ed” Towns (NY-10) has collaborated with the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) to host a one-day forum that provides local, minority and women owned businesses with resources and tips to maximize contracting opportunities in New York City. With panelists representing DOT as well as state and city-level transportation agencies, the three-part forum will include the following workshops: 1) Shovel-Ready Transportation Projects; 2) Understanding Government Procurement in Recovery Act Climate; and, 3) Access to Financing.

There are currently over 300 minority and women owned business in Kings County that are certified to receive federal contracts. Rep. Towns is committed to increasing this number in an effort to ensure minority contractors have fair access to government contracting opportunities.
