WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Edolphus “Ed” Towns (NY-10) released the following statement in observance of Independence Day 2009:
“On this Fourth of July 2009, we celebrate the anniversary of our nation’s independence, a revolutionary moment in our history that took place more than two hundred years ago. We honor our Founding Fathers who fought for the liberties and freedoms that continue to define what it means to be an American citizen today.
Above all, today, we express our deepest appreciation to our service men and women who continue to make the ultimate, selfless sacrifice to ensure our precious freedoms. Our thoughts and prayers are with these brave men and women whose commitment to the nation remains unmatched.”
