REP. EDOLPHUS "ED" TOWNS SUPPORTS BARCLAYS CAPITAL, PARTNERSHIP FOR PARKS AND NEW YORK CARES IN REVITALIZING BROOKLYN PARKS

BROOKLYN - Rep. Edolphus "Ed" Towns (NY-10) joined more than 240 Barclays Capital employees at their opening ceremony in Brooklyn to help revitalize P.S. 46 Edward C. Blum and Fort Greene Park.  Volunteers added fresh coats of paint to park benches, installed fencing and spread mulch and wood chips over the area to prevent new weeds. Volunteers also created and painted several murals at the school and repainted the fencing surrounding the school.

"I came to say thank you for what you are doing. I can't think of a better district to perform the kind of service you are doing today. Needless to say I have been a tireless champion for educating our youth, and while the most crucial aspect is developing their minds, the infrastructure in our communities in which they learn and play is most important in creating well rounded individuals," said Towns.

Today's event is part of a larger 600 person Barclays Capital volunteer initiative where summer analysts and associates contribute to the community by revitalizing local parks and schools. This is Barclays Capital's fourth year partnering with Partnerships for Parks for the Financial Services Roundtable's community service initiative.
