Rep. Towns Announces
Support for Health Insurance Reform Bill

WASHINGTON - U.S. Representative Edolphus “Ed” Towns (NY-10) today issued the following statement in support of health insurance reform.

“Our country needs health insurance reform now.  For too long Congress sat on the sidelines, ignoring the health care crisis that exists in our nation and hurting American families.   In the coming days, we will have an historic opportunity to pass meaningful legislation that will begin to provide quality and affordable health care choices for all Americans.

“While no bill will be perfect, I know the results of inaction will be far worse.  We can no longer wait to stem the tide of the uninsured and underinsured, implement important reforms to prevent insurers from discriminating against persons with pre-existing conditions and enact important measures to rein in costs.

“I look forward to working with my colleagues on this important legislation, and voting for a health insurance reform bill that will benefit my constituents in Brooklyn and all Americans.”
