Rep. Towns to Hold Town Hall Meeting on New Health Insurance Reform Law

BROOKLYN - U.S. Rep. Edolphus “Ed” Towns (NY-10) is hosting a town hall meeting on Saturday, April 24, 2010 to discuss the health insurance reform legislation signed into law by President Obama last month. The congressman will be joined by two health policy experts who will discuss key provisions of the bill and the impact on residents and employers in the 10th Congressional District. During the town hall meeting, experts will walk residents through the health reform package and explain the implementation timeline for provisions in the bill.

According to Rep. Towns, the landmark law “has fundamentally changed health care as we know it” and  includes provisions to make health care affordable for middle-class Americans, expand access to health insurance for the uninsured and improve Medicare services for seniors. Some benefits take effect immediately while others do not begin until 2011 or later.
