SHUSTER APPLAUDS GRANT FOR TEACHERS TRAINING

Washington, DC – Congressman Bill Shuster announced today a grant for the American Society of Educators Teacher Development (ASE) for teachers and administrators in rural Pennsylvania.  This funding will be used to help train and educate school officials throughout central and western Pennsylvania to better meet the demands of their job – teaching our children.

“We must make sure our teachers and school officials are fully prepared to educate our children,” said Congressman Shuster.  “ASE is dedicated to this cause, and by doing so, helps to provide our children with the best education possible.”

ASE will receive $50,000 to help coordinate training and professional development for teachers throughout the Ninth Congressional District.  Specifically, the Society plans to conduct professional development seminars in technology in rural Pennsylvania for teachers, librarians, media specialists, computer lab directors, resource center coordinators, curriculum chair people, and administrators.

This funding was included in the Labor, Health and Human Services portion of the Omnibus bill, a massive piece of legislation which includes a variety of appropriations.
