Shuster Mourns the Loss of One of Indiana County’s Great Leaders

Washington, DC – Congressman Bill Shuster mourns the loss of one of Indiana County’s great leaders, County Commissioner Bernie Smith. Smith was a radio news anchor and President of the Homer-Center School Board before first being elected as County Commissioner in 1995. He also served as president of Indiana County Technical Center. Smith was serving his third term as Commissioner and was recently elected President of the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania.

“Commissioner Smith was a dedicated public servant and a great civic leader,” said Shuster. “His commitment to the people of Indiana County is commendable and he will be greatly missed. He reached out to people across the county, first as a newsman and later as a public servant. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.”
