| Washington, DC – Congressman Bill Shuster announced today funding for the Capitol Theatre in Chambersburg. The theater has been undergoing a variety of renovations as well as the rebuilding of its ceiling.
“As a member of the Capitol Theatre Center Foundation I am thankful to Congressman Shuster for securing this funding, and I know this appreciation is across the entire board,” said Charles Q. Smith, a member and secretary of the Capitol Theatre Center Foundation. “We have a need for debt reduction and repairs to the collapsed ceiling. This funding is extremely important to stay on sound financial ground. We have a long way to go but the funding secured by Congressman Shuster puts us on a path to great successes.”
The Capitol Theatre will receive $100,000, which was included in the Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Bill that passed Congress and was recently signed by President Bush.
“The Capitol Theatre is an historic landmark in Chambersburg and this support is needed so that residents in the area can continue to enjoy it,” said Shuster. “The funds will be used to improve the theatre and continue its renovations.” |
