SHUSTER APPLAUDS FUNDING FOR POOL CONSERVATION

Carlisle Receives Federal Grant For Local Swimming Pool

Washington, DC – Congressman Bill Shuster announced today a grant to assist with the renovation of the Carlisle Borough Community Pool.  The pool was originally constructed in 1969 and has had no significant improvements since that time.

“These improvements are long overdue and will benefit the entire community, especially during the hot summer months,” said Congressman Shuster.  “The residents of Carlisle will now be able to enjoy a new and improved local community pool.”

The Borough will receive $250,000 to renovate the swimming facility.  The proposed work will refurbish the main pool and wading pool, upgrade the lighting, the bathhouse and concession area, and improve accessibility.

“The entire facility will be enhanced because of this funding,” said Congressman Shuster.

This grant is administered through the National Park Service Land and Water Conservation Fund.  The Land and Water Conservation Fund is a partnership program that provides matching funds to states and local communities for acquisition, development and conservation of parks and open space.
