SHUSTER APPLAUDS GRANT FOR LOCAL POOL

Swimming Facility In Indiana County Receives Funding For Renovations

Washington, DC – Congressman Bill Shuster announced today a grant for Conemaugh Township in Indiana County for the modernization of a swimming pool complex.  The funding will be used to renovate the pool area as well as make the facility more accessible.

“This will make sure the pool is kept up-to-date and ensure that it is convenient for everyone,” said Congressman Shuster.  “These repairs will help modernize a facility that has not had a significant renovation in over forty years.  Families and children will now have an even better spot to get away to during the summer months.”

Conemaugh Township will receive $200,000 for the SCL Swimming Pool Complex.  The total cost of the project is $400,000 and the funding will be used to help repair the existing facility.

The main pool and wading pools were constructed in 1962 with few updates over the years.  Proposed work consists of repairing the pool walls and floors, upgrading the plumbing, and replacing the filtration system and concrete decking.  In addition to the work on these pools, the grant will be used to improve accessibility to the complex, renovate the bathhouse, and install a waterslide.

The funding is administered through the National Park Service Land and Water Conservation Fund.  The Land and Water Conservation Fund is a partnership program that provides matching funds to states and local communities for the development and conservation of parks and open space.
