Dems Exploit Fallen Soldiers To Raise Political Money

Shuster Urges All Dems To Renounce Their Leadership’s Utter Disrespect

Washington, DC – Congressman Bill Shuster signed onto the Military Fallen Heroes Protection Act today in response to House Democrats reprehensible fundraising video exploiting fallen American soldiers. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), headed by Representative Rahm Emanuel with the guidance of Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, released this week a fundraising solicitation video containing images of caskets of U.S. soldiers killed in the War on Terror.

"It is one thing to want to cut-and-run, or to be against the War on Terror, but using photos of fallen men and women to raise money for political campaigns is reprehensible," said Shuster. "Freedom and democracy in the United States remain an envy to the world today after more than 200 years because our soldiers, Marines, sailors and airmen have fought to protect them – the same freedoms that allow Democrats to voice their opposition to the war, but this time they have gone too far."

H.R. 5772 comes in response to the DCCC’s commercial and political use of names and images of fallen soldiers. The legislation was introduced at the request of several families who have lost loved ones in Iraq. Families of our fallen heroes were shocked to learn that the names of their sons had been printed on the back on anti-war t-shirts being sold for profit.

"That is absolutely reprehensible – nevermind probably illegal," said Shuster. "Democrats across the country should take a stand against their leadership’s blind lust for power and utter disrespect for our fallen heroes. Democrats have thrown out their moral compass by exploiting our soldiers on the frontlines, and Rahm Emanuel should return the money or resign as chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee."
