SHUSTER APPROVES RECENT GROWTH, STILL MORE TO DO

Washington, DC – Congressman Bill Shuster applauded today’s national payroll figures and the recent unemployment information in Huntingdon, Franklin, Fulton, Somerset and Cambria Counties.

“Our economy is growing stronger and stronger every day and more people are finding jobs,” said Congressman Shuster.  “Recent data is proof that we are moving in the right direction.  There is still more work to do, however, and under President Bush’s leadership, we will continue to move forward.”

U.S. employers hired more than 337,000 workers in the month of October and in Huntingdon, Franklin, Fulton, Somerset and Cambria Counties unemployment fell.  The rates fell by an average of .3% in these counties in just a one-month time period.

“We must continue to cut taxes and enact policies that encourage businesses to grow and hire,” said Congressman Shuster.  “I know we have more work to do, but these are remarkable signs of a growing economy.”

The U.S. Department of Labor released the figures and also revised its national figures for September and August saying the economy added 156,000 more jobs than previously thought.  This brings the total of jobs created over the last 13 months to 2.2 million.
