GRANTS FOR FIRE COMPANIES SECURED

Shuster Announces Funding For Local Fire Volunteers

Washington, DC – Congressman Bill Shuster announced today grants for two volunteer fire departments.  The Mont Alto Volunteer Fire Company Number 1 in Franklin County and the Kittanning Trail Volunteer Fire Department, near Altoona, will receive federal funding to help support their operations and safety programs.

“The men and women who volunteer their time and risk their lives to protect our communities, homes and neighborhoods deserve the appropriate equipment,” said Congressman Shuster.  “This funding helps to provide them with the tools necessary for their safety and for their job.”

The Mont Alto Fire Company will receive $44,406 and the Kittanning Trail Department will receive $43,830.  This funding will be used to help maintain their operations as well as to purchase new equipment.

The funding is administered through the Department of Homeland Security.  The Department of Homeland Security provides grants to local fire departments because of their role as first responders.
