Shuster Applauds Decision to Complete I-99

Congressman Commends DEP & PennDOT for the Decision to Finish Road

Washington, DC – Congressman Bill Shuster commends PennDOT and the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for coming to a resolution to complete I-99, a major corridor in the Ninth Congressional District. The final section of the highway will connect Altoona to State College. PennDOT and DEP are working together to remove acid rock and build the remainder of the highway, completing a major transportation artery in Central Pennsylvania.

“I’d like to applaud DEP and PennDOT for their cooperation in finishing the highway and completing a major transportation corridor through the Ninth Congressional District,” said Shuster, a member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. “This last section of the road will connect Altoona to State College and open up a major economic corridor in the region. It will create jobs and stimulate commerce in the area; I applaud their efforts toward the successful completion of I-99.”
