Washington, DC – Congressman Bill Shuster was honored to receive the Friend of the Farm Bureau Award today in Mercersburg. The award is presented annually to members of Congress who have consistently voted in favor of issues that positively impact the Farm Bureau and area farms.
“I am honored to receive this award today,” said Shuster, a member of the Congressional Dairy Caucus. “Farmers are the backbone of this country and it is very important to protect the interests of those who work hard everyday to feed people across America. This issue is especially important to me because I grew up on a family farm right here in Pennsylvania. Family farms are an integral part of the landscape in Central and Western Pennsylvania and I would like to thank them for their dedication and hard work.”
Carl T. Shaffer, the President of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, thanked Congressman Shuster for his service to farmers across the state.
“On behalf of more than 40,000 farms and rural families across Pennsylvania,” said Shaffer, “The Pennsylvania Farm Bureau would like to thank Congressman Shuster for his support of agriculture and our rural families.” |
