Washington, DC – Congressman Bill Shuster announced that the Friendship Fire Company in Port Royal, Juniata County has been awarded a $46,550 grant for operations and safety equipment. More than $478,000 was awarded through the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) Assistance to Firefighters Grant program.
"I am pleased that DHS has recognized the need for specialized funds for our emergency management systems. These grants have made it possible for our fire departments to do their jobs well and protect themselves,” said Shuster, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Emergency Management. "Our firefighters deserve to have the best equipment available. They risk their lives to protect our families and property."
The DHS Assistance to Firefighters Grant program is responsible for $485 million in grant money for fire stations around the country this year. |
