SHUSTER TO PRESENT CHECK FOR HOPWOOD VILLAGE PROJECT

 
Washington, DC – Congressman Bill Shuster will announce funding and present a check to continue the Hopwood Village Project, a community effort to restore the Village of Hopwood, preserve its historic significance and address pedestrian and motorist safety.

 WHO: Congressman Shuster, [invited guests] State Senator Richard Kasunic, State Representatives Jim Shaner and Larry Roberts, Commission Chairwoman Angela Zimmerlink, Commissioner Vince Vicities, Charmaine Sampson (Representing Commissioner Joe Hardy), North Union Township Supervisors Curt Matthews and Tom Kumar, South Union Township Supervisor Tom Frankhouser, Director of Planning for Fayette County Tammy Shell, Hopwood Village Project members Al Botti, Elaine Frintz, Harry McElroy, Jim Tobal and Maxine White, and Hopwood Village Fire Department Officials.

WHERE: Main Street Volunteer Fire Department in Hopwood Village  

The Hopwood Village Project is a group of local citizens who are working to renovate the Village of Hopwood, which will provide economic development while maintaining the areas’ history.  The plans include adding sidewalks, crosswalks, benches and streetlights.  Congressman Shuster has secured $600,000 for the project.
