Washington, DC – U.S. Congressman Bill Shuster (R-Hollidaysburg), a member of the House Armed Services Committee, issued the following statement today on the release of the Iraq Study Group (ISG) Report:
“The Iraq Study Group has provided a serious report, put together by a respected group of individuals, which needs to be digested thoroughly and thoughtfully. The Administration and Congress must carefully review their recommendations and utilize their report to ensure that we are acting in the best interests of our troops, our country and the people of Iraq. The members of the Iraq Study Group should be applauded for their hard work devoted to this effort.
“I agree with the ISG that ‘there is no magic formula to solve the problems of Iraq,’ but it is important to note they ‘rejected the immediate withdrawal of our troops.’” |
