Washington, D.C. - Congressman Bill Shuster presented funding to Roaring Spring yesterday to help fund upgrades to the retaining wall along Route 867 near the train station.

“The retaining wall in Roaring Spring is part of the community’s history and should be kept up. Over the years it has deteriorated, but this funding will help renovate it and preserve it,” said Congressman Bill Shuster, who secured the funding.
Local officials were on hand for the presentation, including Roaring Spring Mayor Paul Holsinger. The funds were made available through the Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration and will be used to rebuild and repair the wall.
The check presented was for $198,400 and required a joint effort by all community officials, including state Representative Jerry Stern, Blair County Commissioner Barry Wright, Mayor Holsinger and Borough Treasurer Lisa Gates.
