DEMOCRAT EMERGENCY PORK-LE-MENTAL
Democrats use troops to carry massive weight of billion$ in pork,
turn emergency bill into “
pork-laden mess”

Washington D.C.- Democrats continue to deal for votes on H.R. 1591, the Iraq War Supplemental, which the House will debate for four hours.  And, according to the Majority Whip, the vote could last, well, who knows.

Last night, Congressman John Campbell (RSC's Budget and Spending Taskforce Chairman), submitted an amendment to the Rules Committee last night to strip all of the non-military related funding from the bill.  The amendment, which would have saved $13 billion, was rejected.

It seems like common-sense to remove all non-war funding from the “Iraq War Emergency Supplemental.”  Why was this amendment rejected?

“Turning the president's $100 billion supplemental war spending request into a $124.6 billion, pork-laden mess – exactly what Democrats pledged to end when voters gave them a majority in Congress. Initially lacking the votes to pass a bill that includes a hard timetable for withdrawal, Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her top lieutenants turned pay-as-you-go into bribe-as-you-go, hoping to round up more members of their own party.”
 (Dallas Morning News, 3/22/2007)

As of March 13, 2007, there were 153,700 armed forces in Iraq & Kuwait.  The Democrat majority has included over $13 billion in non-emergency dollars in an emergency bill.  This is equivalent to $84,580 FOR EVERY MEMBER OF THE AMERICAN ARMED FORCES in Iraq – more than many of them will be paid this year.

$13,000,000,000 / 153,700 = $84,580 per serviceman

The Democrat Supplemental: A “slow bleed strategy” for our troops; a “fuggetaboutit strategy” for deficit reduction; a nightmare strategy for America.
