Press Release
Marchant visits CUNA Mutual
August 13, 2008

FORT WORTH, TX - U.S. Congressman Kenny Marchant (TX-24) addressed nearly fifty employees on Aug. 13 at CUNA Mutual Group in Fort Worth.

CUNA Mutual Group guided Marchant on a personal tour of the facility.  Members of the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce were also in attendance.

After the tour, Marchant met with an assembled group of employees and discussed a variety of issues.  Among the topics included Marchant’s background in local, state, and federal government and his past experience working with credit unions.

Marchant, who serves on the Financial Services Committee, hailed credit unions for their commitment to families’ financial needs and for providing quality services for residents of the 24th Congressional District.

“I believe firmly that credit unions can boost a family’s ability to thrive and succeed by enabling them to purchase a new vehicle, finance a home or send a child to college,” Marchant said.

The congressman has long been a proponent of credit unions dating back to when he served as a state representative.  In the U.S. House of Representatives he co-sponsored the Credit Union Regulatory Improvements Act of 2005 (CURIA).

The site-visit marked one of many engagements Marchant has particpated in across District 24 during the month of August.
