Washington, D.C. – Congressman Kenny Marchant (TX-24) issued the following release today addressing the House’s passage of H.R. 4154.

“Today, the House of Representatives passed a 45% death tax. This tax constitutes nothing less than government confiscation of hard-earned, family nest eggs. Despite what supporters of this bill say, the death tax is a double tax which will hit many small businesses and farmers. And, like the Alternative Minimum Tax, the tax in this bill is not indexed for inflation, meaning it will gradually take in more and more Americans. This is yet another tax increase to feed the insatiable appetite for spending on the left.”
