IRVING – U.S. Congressman Kenny Marchant (TX-24) visited the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) offices in Irving. Marchant met with staff and listened to AARC’s thoughts on health care reform. Marchant joined AARC Director of Government Affairs Cheryl West and Chief Operating Officer Tom Kallstrom for a roundtable discussion. The AARC representatives discussed the relationship between Medicare, respiratory care and overall patient care. In addition, recently published statistics from the American Lung Association about the number of constituents in Marchant’s district who have lung disease were reviewed. “With health care reform at the top of the agenda, my goal is to listen and learn from as many perspectives as possible,” said Marchant. “I find that meeting with constituents is extremely productive by hearing the views of my district, but also in better understanding what improvements can be made to the health care system.” The event marked one of many constituent meetings Marchant has participated in during the month. After the visit, Marchant held a town hall in Farmers Branch that focused primarily on health care. AARC staff members greeted Congressman Marchant, including (from left), Karen Singleterry, Dale Griffiths, Congressman Marchant, Tom Kallstrom, Sherry Milligan, Cheryl West, and Marsha Cathcart. ### |
