Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Kenny Marchant (TX-24) issued the following release regarding his cosponsorship of the Keep Terrorists Out of America Act which was introduced today.

“Just two days after his inauguration, President Obama signed an executive order to close the prison at Guantanamo Bay within one year. Four months later, there are still no plans for where to send the world’s most dangerous terrorists. The people of the 24th District and Americans nationwide have shown no inclination to welcome these terrorists to American soil. My cosponsorship of the Keep Terrorists Out of America Act is indicative of my commitment and intention to strongly oppose the release from Gitmo and transfer of these terrorists into the United States. We need a plan to keep terrorists off our soil.

“The legislation also prohibits the Administration from releasing or transferring Guantanamo detainees to the United States without approval from a state’s governor and legislature. If the will of the people is circumvented, I am confident our governor and state legislature will strongly object to any terrorist detainee being relocated to Texas.”
